Ralph Lauren said it would cut 1,000 jobs and close 50 stores to lower costs and boost sales. The luxury fashion brand faces competition from cheaper clothes retailers such as H&M and Zara and wants to reduce the time it takes products to reach the shelves. Its shares fell by a tenth.
